Hello everyone.

In this lesson, I will explain an easy way to memorize the Circle of fifths. In the picture below you can see sequence chords. For example:

C-G-D-A-E-B-F#-C#

0-1-2-3-4-5-6-7

   F-C-G-D-A-E-B

Now, as you see I wrote some chords and numbers and I would like to explain the way its works. but before I do that, keep in mind that you need to remember 2 separate things. First, you’ll need to remember those notes:(Sharps)

F-C-G-D-A-E-B

Second, you’ll have to remember Those notes :(Scales)

C-G-D-A-E-B-F#-C#

Now, let’s say we want to know how many sharps do we have in the key of C. The answer will be zero.

C-G-D-A-E-B-F#-C#

0-1-2-3-4-5-6-7

let’s move on, How many sharps do we have in the key of G? The answer will be 1. Then, How many sharp do we have in the key of D? The answer is 2.

So C=0 G=1 D=2 A=3 E=4 B=5 F#=6 C#=7

Now that we know how many sharps do we have on those scales we need to figure out the name of each Sharp.

F-C-G-D-A-E-B

Those are the names of each sharp. For example: In the key of G we only have 1 sharp. which note will it be? It’ll be F. So the “G” scale will look like that G-A-B-C-D-E-F#-G. I Would like to give you 1 more example. In the key of “D”, we have 2 sharps notes. Those sharp notes will be F and C.

C-G-D-A-E-B-F#-C#

0-1-2-3-4-5-6-7

   F-C-G-D-A-E-B

More Examples: C=0 G=1(F) D=2(F-C) A=3(F-C-G) E=4(F-C-G-D) B=5(F-C-G-D-A) F#=6(F-C-G-D-A-E) C#=7(F-C-G-D-A-E-C)
